We are a friendly road bike club with rides from Monk Fryston in North Yorkshire every Sunday from 8am in Winter and 7am in Summer
We are cycling loving people from Monk Fryston, Hillam and the surrounding towns and villages that like a ride out, friendly banter and a café stop a Sunday mornings. We like to keep it simple, we have no constitution, no membership fees, no fast or slow groups and we only have two rules - wear you club shirt (when you get one) and no one gets left behind - the stronger riders will always wait at the top of hills or junctions for the slower ones.
We normally ride on Sundays. Unlike more traditional clubs, we set off early and return around midday. Departure from Monk Fryston Hall gates is usually at 7am in summer and 8am in winter, with routes being between 30 to 60 miles. Regular destinations include York, Wetherby, Otley, Knaresborough and anywhere within a 50 mile radius of Monk Fryston. As the season progresses we take our bikes to the hills for more challenging rides. You can see where members have recently been riding on our club page on Strava.
Club activities also include charity rides, sportives, an annual weekend 2 day long distance ride and trips to the French Cols. Look out this year for our Festival which will be held on the 30th April to celebrate the Tour de Yorkshire passing through Monk Fryston and Hillam.
As well as supporting organised charity rides, we raise funds for the Anthony Nolan Trust, the Alzheimers Society and the Cochlear Implants Children Support group. We have also raised funds for the repair of the village Church roof by riding from Whitehaven to Sunderland in just 11 hours.
If you would like to join us, meet us at the hall for one of our regular rides, you'll be most welcome.
